Books for Christmas!

If you ask me, books are always a welcome present.
Actually there’s a tradition in my family to only give books and chocolate (which go together oh so well). Okay, there might be the occasional pair of socks or something else to keep one warm.

In the spirit of this tradition, you can now get a whole slew of great books with the change you dug out from between the sofa cushions. Lots of genres to choose from and the pricetag is between $2.99 – $4.99, but they will be for sale only until February 24th.
The Bundles go live on DECEMBER 24th.

AND don’t forget The Adventure of Creation Anthology presented by Holly Lisle! Lots of little bite sized stories in several different genres. Available in both ebook and paperback on Amazon.

If you hurry, you can grab the Anthology for $3.99 during the Kindle Countdown Deal before the price goes back up to $9.29 tomorrow!

Have a Bookish Christmas!

Yes! I am having my very own Thank God It’s Over Party here with a, well, a glass of water and what’s left of the chocolate, but screw that, the point is it is OVER!

I crossed the finishing line by 24 words and that’s good enough for me. That fifty-thou added to the already existing 20K of the draft (yes, yes, I’m a rebel) gives me a nice base for revising.
First it needs an ending. I just got to the point when they start to figure out who the murderer is and BAM it’s over. And honestly, I’m too tired to care right now. I’ll get to it once my energy bar is a bit fuller again 😀

Here’s my badge of honour and this year it’s 8-bit! I want to cry a little when I look at it because it’s the proof that I can stop typing like crazy for a day or two.

It’s about two o’clock on Halloween night,  I’m watching horror movies and eating the candy I was supposed to save for tomorrow.
I hope you are having a Spooktacular Halloween! (sorry about that)

Maybe I’ll just leave the puns to Dean Pelton?

NaNo Time!

You know what time it is (almost)?
That’s right, NaNoWriMo’13 is here. It’s so close I can smell it (smells like something is burning).

I’m going for it, stockpiling gummy bears and perfecting my caffeine IV for that mad rush when the start-pistol goes off. Who’s with me this year? Let’s see some hands folks!

Sign yourself up for the madness at NaNoWriMo and get a nifty process meter like this to flaunt your failure success everywhere!

Note that by the time I’ve been actually doing NaNo for, oh, four, five days, my enthusiasm will have cooled considerably. Every thirty minutes I’ll lift my weary head to look at the calendar and scream “ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME!”
Ah, NaNo…

From Alex Westhaven’s blog:

I’m banding together with some other great authors to bring you a whole month’s worth of posts pertaining to Halloween and all things creepy, horrific, and hopefully entertaining. The event will be based right here on the blog, and we’ll have something for everyone, including some great giveaways and a grand prize drawing on Halloween.

Entering the drawings is easy. Simply comment on any post during the month, and you’re automatically entered into both ebook bundle giveaways, as well as the grand prize print drawing on October 31st.

“In January, the moderators of Holly’s Forum approached her with the idea of an anthology. With the 5th anniversary of “How to Think Sideways” drawing nearer, it seemed a good idea to match the release date with the anniversary. Holly agreed to the idea and even added a monetary price for the top stories. After a very, very difficult selection process, we settled on thirty-five stories. It’s a pity we couldn’t take them all. The scores were so close, we had lengthy discussions and finally went five stories over the 30 story limit we had planned.

With the stories selected and in Holly’s hands to pick a winner, we are proudly presenting to you:

The Adventure of Creation

The Think Sideways Anthology #1 presented by Holly Lisle

AdventureCreationSmall

35 marvelous short stories by gifted new writers

Follow a girl to the Below-World to slay the Sharkshadow, or help a timid girl to overcome the destructive criticism of her art teacher. Witness a solitary drone on Mars or a naive homunculus struggle to become human. Sew with a mother who lost her daughter in a unicorn quilt, defeat bank robbing super-villains with an unlikely superhero, or join a great mage in the fire.

In thirty-five imaginative stories, emerging authors present the diversity of their creativity. Each author found a different angle for the unifying theme: The Adventure of Creation. Witness the talent nurtured by writing teacher, Holly Lisle. For the 5th anniversary of her first big writing course, How to Think Sideways, this anthology features the best of her talented students in a great variety of genres.

The eBook and print book will be released on the 24th of July. Help us spread the word. If the Anthology is successful, we might do another one next year.”

(wink, nod) P.S. Please also find included between the covers a story by Yours Truly. (/wink, nod)
